It’s been a long time since the last update… wait. It’s only been three months? Seriously? Well, I guess I’m getting better at putting these updates out faster.
However, this is also only a beta for the 1.1 update, which I will keep unnamed since there are still features to release.
Even if it’s a beta, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have lots of features! Let’s get into the changes!
Additions
This section is pretty big, considering it’s a beta. There’s quite a lot of new content related to world generation in this update. We’re really taking advantage of the new tools provided to us. Lots of structures!
There’s also a lot of unique soul loot made from 1.19’s echo shard. I thought a simple death compass didn’t do the spooky environment of the ancient city any good.
Mangrove Swamp Village
- A new village variant that spawns in mangrove swamps
- Has unique mangrove buildings
- Spawns the previously unused swamp villager variant
- Has an explorer map traded by cartographers 50% of the time for 20-30 emeralds. The other 50% of the time, cartographers will trade maps to the tundra keep.
Geode Outpost
- A new structure, found by following a “Geode Explorer Map” traded by jeweler villagers
- Contains at least four geomancers inside
- The loot includes enough material to make a single ring, one budding amethyst, and a silk touch iron pickaxe
- Once you clear out the geomancers, they don’t respawn, so the massive geode can be harvested safely
Tea of Illumination
- You can now brew tea using an echo shard to create Tea of Illumination, which gives darkness immunity
Disc 5 Renewability
- Creepers killed by the warden will now drop disc 5 fragments
Soul Conductor
- A new block crafted from 2 echo shards
- Connecting two soul conductors with a line of sculk and clicking one end will teleport you to the other
- You can find out more about this feature in its guide article. Yes, it’s so complex it has its own guide article.
Changes
This beta has quite a few changes in it, some of them more major than others.
Ocean Monument Rework (Rework)
- The ocean monument rework has been completely overhauled to have multiple rooms and a better palette. (no more glass!)
- It no longer uses barrels for loot, and instead has all loot in block form. It rewards:
- 24 gold blocks
- 32 sponge blocks
- One trident, now encased in a prismarine cage
- Additionally, the elder guardians now give the mining fatigue effect much faster, and will clear the effect once you kill all three
Soul Seer Changes
- The soul seer is now crafted with deepslate and a single echo shard, rather than soul sand
- It now triggers observers when activated and deactivated
- It also has an amazing new texture, show below
Positional Anchor Changes
- The positional anchor is now crafted with blackstone, rather than deepslate, to fit the nether theme more clearly
- The pearl now comes out 0.1 blocks from the top of the block, rather than 0.5 blocks from the top
- It also has an amazing new texture, shown below
Jeweler Rework
- The jeweler now trades calcite and a map to a geode outpost along with its previous trades
Geomancer Loot Changes
- Echo shards now drop from geomancers killed nearby a sculk catalyst, instead of their usual amethyst shard drop, making echo shards renewable
- Geomancers no longer drop deepslate
- Geomancers drop budding amethyst 2.5% of the time
Miscellaneous Changes
- Wrenches can now rotate creative mode blocks when you’re in creative mode and new 1.19 blocks
- Boomerangs can now break cobwebs, fully grown mangrove propagules, and chest boats
- Mining fatigue immunity tea is now made from sponge water
- Made by clicking a wet sponge on a teapot, which will give you a dry sponge in return
- Sponge drowned only spawn in monuments due to this change in order to prevent monument cheesing
- Golden apple pie slices now give the same duration of effect for each slice
- Wandering traders no longer trade snail mucus, they now only trade snail buckets
- Witches now trade sightless eyes for their final trade instead of ancient acorns
- Diamond rings now give +2 and +4 hearts, rather than +1 and +2
- Hopefully this brings them more in line with the other rings!
Removals
Only a couple features were removed this update compared to the massive 1.0 removal.
Large Ocean Ruin Additions
- This feature was removed simply because it didn’t add much that the monument rework didn’t.
- It also had a small chance of breaking due to the postgen method it used.
Absorption Stacking
- Very overpowered.
- You could eat multiple golden apples to stack the absorption hearts, which could effectively allow you to get a full row of absorption and cheese large damage very easily.
Ancient Acorn
- Also very overpowered.
- You could eat an ancient acorn to get five minutes of haste II. They were traded by wandering traders and dropped by spruce leaves in mega taigas—meaning you could easily obtain them and not ever need a beacon.
- They could also be used to brew mining fatigue immunity tea—that role has been given to wet sponges instead.
Fixes
- #111: Snail compendium entry has misleading info about hatching time
- #113: Witch Hats have RepairCost of 100, preventing enchanting and renaming via anvil
- #114: Cartographer zombies are improperly converted into jeweler zombies if they have unlocked the tundra keep trade
- #115: Molten mirror does not flip luck into bad luck
- #116: Diamond rings take extra damage from invalid sources, while prismarine and quartz rings take no damage at all
- #117: Ocean monument reworks sometimes do not spawn in specific circumstances
- #118: Soul Seers cannot be crafted more than once
- #119: Illagers do not despawn in peaceful mode
- #121: Iceologers do not spawn in raids on frozen ocean biomes
