Version 1.5: Pots & Plants & Potions

Yeah, it’s been a while since the last update. A whole new drop cycle has started since 1.4.1 came out and you all have been pleading for a 1.21.4 port.

Well, here it is finally—we got a little caught up in adding fun features with new 1.21.4 tech and muddied up our porting and development.

This update may seem a bit smaller than usual for a major release, but I can tell you that the effort put into it is well worth it. Lots of tech changes went on behind the scenes, even if there aren’t many new features.

Most of the features we have just happened to fall into three nice categories—”pots”, for all the new pot blocks, “plants”, for the gobblerift rework and creaking connector, and “potions” for dyeable witch hats and the new blind rage potion rework.

Additions

Creaking Connector

The Creaking Connector in action
  • A brand-new redstone block made from a creaking heart, giving new use to the pale garden
  • Acts as a wireless redstone system
  • When right-clicked with a sapling, it creates a “saplink”, which can be right-clicked to cause the connector to give off a signal
    • The darker the wood of the sapling, the higher the signal that is emitted
      • For example, pale oak gives off a signal of 1, while dark oak gives off 8
  • Just watch the video above!

Glazed Terracotta Pots

  • A new decorative block made from glazed terracotta
  • Can hold items, just like decorated pots
  • Cannot have sherds, unlike decorated pots
  • Very cool and useful for a splash of color in your builds

More Flower Pots

  • You can now make prismarine and nether brick flower pots
  • Made the exact same way as flower pots, just this time with nether bricks or prismarine shards
  • Not much else to them, just useful for decoration

New Mob Animations

An example of the enchanter playing a new animation
  • All TCC mobs now have new, smoother animations
  • This took eons to do, and relies on the new 1.21.4 composite model system
  • Enchanters and Iceologers also have capes due to this change

Dyeable Witch Hats

  • You can now dye witch hats like leather armor
  • Have fun color-coordinating your trims with your hat!
  • There’s also a new 2D texture when in the inventory

Changes

Gobblerift Rework

  • Now found as seeds in end cities AND crashed end ships, rather than just crashed end ships
    • This replaces the beetroot seeds
    • While I was at it, I replaced the inventory clogging horse armors and saddles with axes, lapis lazuli, and name tags
  • Growing from seeds to fully grown now takes much less bone meal
  • More filling meat (steak, pork) now makes the gobblerift enter digestion faster than less filling meat (chicken, fish)
  • You can now make a gobblerift reproduce by feeding it its favorite food, rabbit stew, for the entirety of a digestion cycle
    • This takes 12 rabbit stew in total, and it will spit out gobblerift seeds when it opens up next
  • You can now break and move gobblerifts without them resetting into the lowest growth stage
    • Anything below the mouth stage of growth drops gobblerift seeds instead (which are stackable, reducing inventory clog)
  • Riftjuice bottles now stack up to 16

Crashed End Ship Rework

  • The crashed end ship is no longer the only location where you can find gobblerift seeds
  • It now contains a “tattered elytra”, an elytra with 2 minutes of durability that cannot be repaired or enchanted rather than gobblerifts
    • This acts as a way to break up the tedium of the outer end by giving you a “demo” elytra

Cursed Crown Rework

  • Now takes all but one of your hearts, rather than only 8 of your hearts
  • You can now heal during the cooldown using golden apples
    • Golden apple heals 3 hearts
    • Enchanted golden apple heals 12 hearts
  • The cooldown to fully refresh hearts has been lowered to 8 seconds
  • Now is compatible with health boost and other health-increasing items
  • Now has a 2D texture in the inventory like other helmet items
  • Now prevents piglins from getting angry at you like other gold armor

Miscellaneous Changes

  • Blind rage potions now give strength V instead of strength III
    • This is due to the removal of tea; there is now no item to counteract the blindness, so I felt safe making the amplifier more reasonable
    • This is a reasonable bit more damage than strength II with critical hits, since you cannot crit or sprint while blind
  • Riftjuice bottles now have a new emissive texture
  • The wandering trader now sells pale oak saplings, pale moss, pale hanging moss, and eyeblossoms
  • The wrench can rotate all relevant pale oak and resin blocks
  • The “voyager” pottery sherd texture has been updated
  • Silk-touched composters and respawn anchors now have lore listing their fill status
  • Made sniffer eggs slightly more common in warm ocean ruins
  • The smoldering seeker’s needle texture now has more consistent shading
  • Unlit campfires now have static rather than animated textures, for consistency with the other campfire items

Removals

Positional Anchor

  • This feature allowed you to store ender pearls in a redstone block that would fire them when powered
  • Many of Mojang’s new additions made this block functionally irrelevant, as it is now worse than default ender pearls in bubble columns—it cannot load chunks or work crossdimensionally like stasis chambers can

Tea

  • This feature was awkward and led to several balance issues I was not happy with
  • It allowed you to prevent potion effects from dual potions, and this made blind rage not be able to reach usable potential due to the fear of making it wildly unbalanced due to blindness immunity
  • Allowed you to completely ignore core mechanics of structures, like mining fatigue and darkness
  • Apparently, the majority of you use this feature for the fun of making tea instead of actually using it in gameplay, so I would rather not continue maintaining this feature if the main use is having tea parties
  • This also removes warped wart and nausea potions as a side effect
    • These two were also not great, nausea potions were only useful in multiplayer, as mobs do not have any effect when receiving this effect

Misc Removals

  • Silk-touching farmland
    • Useless and annoying when attempting to dig up farms, just use a hoe again
  • Snail mucus
    • This feature was retextured slime balls that could be used to extend teas
    • I have simply replaced this with plain old slime, as slime is not exclusive to slime mobs, as baby panda sneezing has proven
